SENIOR Communications / IT PROJECT ENGINEER

TCOMET is offering an exciting opportunity for qualified candidates to join our Operations Team in developing telecommunications and software projects and become part of some of the largest tunneling projects currently underway in Spain, the United Kingdom, Norway, and Peru.

The successful candidate will work alongside our highly experienced team to support TCOMET systems that provide communication and safety services for tunneling operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Integrate with the Operations Team and gain a deep understanding of TCOMET solutions implemented in projects at both a technical and user experience level
  • Contribute your expertise to the design of TCOMET solutions by providing innovative technical solutions in terms of cutting-edge technology, new providers and manufacturers, solution integrations, and methodologies
  • Enhance fieldwork planning, documentation, and testing methodology and execute it effectively by coordinating fieldwork teams with the project management team
  • Improve software deployment in projects by assuming the role of product owner and coordinating the software development team with the project management team
  • Work primarily at TCOMET’s offices in Ponferrada (Spain) with periodic travel to project sites in Spain, the United Kingdom, Norway, Saudi Arabia and Peru
  • Report to TCOMET’s Chief Operations Officer

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in electronics, telecommunications or computer science engineering
  • Solid technical knowledge of telecommunications systems, automation and IoT solutions, and software projects
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent technical skills and experience in engineering and project management of telecommunications systems including radio, fiber optic, networking (LAN, WAN, WiFi), CCTV and automation (PLC programming, environmental sensors)
  • Excellent technical skills and experience in software projects as a product owner or similar role
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients
  • Excellent customer service skills: must be personable with patience and strong communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to see challenges through to resolution
  • Team player able to integrate seamlessly with our highly experienced and motivated operations team on site and remotely (service desk team in Spain) as well as our project management team
  • English proficiency at C1 level
  • Spanish proficiency at C1 level
  • Residence in Ponferrada (Spain)
